Tot School

Nathan is 28 months old
We had a marvelous week! One of the highlights for Nathan was going to Motor Mania with daddy!!! A huge parking lot full of all kinds of vehicles (tanks, firetrucks, police cars, big rigs, horse trailers, etc) and they encouraged kids to climb, explore, and pretend on them!!! Here are some of my favorite pics of the adventure!!!

First snowcone!

Back on the home front, I've finally finished another deep clean of the playroom and got supplies ready for our next couple weeks of tot school. It won't last long, the cleanliness and organization, but for now, I must share the fun pics of Nathan's "FUNZONE". (these are our tot school activities and trays).

a new schedule area. we won't use this all the time, but occasionally, I'd like for Nathan to learn how to use it and the purpose. We tried it a few times this week and he loved it!!!
While the playroom looks great, I'll keep it real... adjacent to the playroom, this huge pile of laundry sits... waiting to be folded. :)
On to our week of tot school... for the first time in a while, we tried Kumon's my first cutting. Nathan was very patient with himself and enjoyed the workbook pages. Cutting is a little tough for him, but it's great to find something challenging!!!
He insisted on wearing the sunglasses while we practiced writing... and since it didn't affect his ability to see, I had no problem with it! We're using a few preschool workbooks and a few Kumon books, and you'll see these scattered throughout our next few months of tot school.

Reading time... Nathan was reading to mommy! Priceless!

Counting the dots on the dice and putting it in the right numbered bowl.
Puzzles
Do a dot pages... always a favorite!

Sidewalk paint and sidewalk chalk... we did this so many times this week!!! Nathan's learning to write and paint his letters and I love watching him create!

Speaking of letters, Nathan is quite fond of them... almost obsessed... so I'm running with his interest and we're doing letters, letters, everywhere!

We finally got the book "how to build an A" and he LOVES it!!!!!
Nathan is doing more and more intelligible drawing. His drawing of the week was moose antlers! He draws them everywhere and they are so cute!!!

I cleared the trains and tracks off the train table and put out blocks and he's been building all week. Look at this concentration!

Thanks to Umi Zoomi, Nathan has learned how to build things out of shapes. This is his tree!
Group tot school was at our house this week. Instead of doing group activities to start, I set up a bunch of stations around the room and the kids worked one on one with their mommies. These are the stations we worked on...

bottle cap spelling
counting and number identification
writing practice
mommy builds a tower and kiddo copies with their own blocks
shadow matching
blending two colors to form a third using playdoh
matching the little letter to the big letter
tanagrams
patterning
matching mommy animals to their babies (part of a tot pack from Carissa that you can find here)
puzzley stencil thingies
After the kids were done at the stations, we brought out a huge bin of big blocks and did some cooperative building! Then they had some time to free play. While I didn't get any pictures, it was a great morning!!! Thanks for coming friends!
