Fun on the Farm

On Sunday, we headed to a local farm to enjoy the slower pace of country life on a farm and to take part in some fun fall festivities. Of course Nathan was elated to see the pumpkins. That surprised me because you might remember his traumatic pumpkin pose last year...

Nonetheless, he has forgotten his mommy stuffing him in a slimy cold pumpkin and has quite a fondness for them this year. He loved trying to pick them all up and saying "biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig one" when they were too heavy. Eventually he found one that was just his size.

And one the perfect size for mommy to carve and put him in... just kidding. I don't think my 22 month old would have any piece of that!

There's always time to stop and smell the flowers. In fact, the other day we were at the park and Nathan said, "mommy, you want to stop. smell the roses? Yeah" So funny. I'm not sure where he heard that, but it was hysterical!

Nathan loved climbing on all the old tractors and driving them! He was also fascinated by their huge wheels.

Of course, all city folk are going to gather round the tractor for a family pic...

see? our friends, Michael & Ethan & Lauren, posed on the tractor too! We met them there for some good fall fun.

This cow train was so cute! The cows are made out of barrels and Nathan loved riding around the farm in his very own barrel!

Of course Mommy and Daddy squeezed into the cows for a ride too!

The second time, Nathan decided he wanted to go by himself, not just solo in the barrel, but solo on the cow train. So Chad and I watched from a distance as our little one looked so grown up on his own mini roller coaster. He had a great time and we got all teary eyed at how big he's getting, and sooooo fast!

Nathan got lots of Daddy time on Sunday and was loving it. I adore watching them together.

There was a huge silo full of corn and it was so much fun to play in.

We buried Chad first and then just about everyone in the silo became one with the corn in some way or another.

Including our little man, who loved the feel of the cool corn.

Look at the green sign in the background above my head... is throwing the same as tossing or dumping? I don't think so. Hee hee!

The corn maze was a huge hit and the kids loved running through the "lanes". Nathan liked to touch the corn and we just loved running and watching him navigate the kiddo maze like he ran through corn every day!

Nathan did have a few quiet contemplative moments... it was so unusual to see him sit so still, so of course, I had to take a picture!

We are so excited that fall is here!

Fabulous Date Night!

Last week, we headed to dinner with our fabulous friends (Tim and Bethany) and met up with 4 other good friends and chowed down on some delicious Brazilian cuisine! We ate way too much, but oh my goodness it was yummy! As for the 8 of us, we truly enjoyed the adult conversation, eating our food without cutting it up for someone else, and not once had to say "please do not bounce your peas... while they look like balls, really they are just spheres". While I those are some of the things I enjoy about meals as a family with my little one, sometimes it's nice to have an adult meal! So all dressed up we got, and out the door we went!

I'm really not this tall... I had heels to wear for the evening and I was try to look tall by standing on the top of my tippy toes for this pic! :)

As for our two kiddos? Izzy and Nathan enjoyed wonderful playtime with our delightful babysitter and they were sound asleep when we arrived back home. These two are so cute together! Izzy is sporting one of Nathan's outfits and looking pretty cute in it too!

I think they act like twins. They even have their own language, rituals, and games. It's going to be so fun to watch them grow up together...

especially because as of tomorrow, Izzy's mom and dad will be closing on a new house... within walking distance for my little toddler! Just when we thought life couldn't get any better, the Rouse's move closer. How much closer? A ton!

Tot School...late again... so sorry!

Nathan is 21 months (well he was when we did these pictures)

We had a great week and a half of tot school but I failed to take great pictures. Nathan is loving having his trays out in the cubby holes and does them more frequently than I'd imagined. We've also started room time this last week and he's been enjoying some of his toys in there as well. This will be a quick post, but here's what we've been up to!

We worked on number identification, counting, as well as one to one correspondence. Nathan is in to bouncing things so we were bouncing the car 4 times in this picture.
An old love, the monkey bank. We're continuing to work on identifying the coins, but right now the only one he really knows is the penny, and that Lincoln is on the penny.
Building towers during room time. I took this picture while he was building the tower and naming the colors as he did it! Such a smart kiddo!
Our lids tray. It amazes me how well he fits puzzles together, including this lid tray. No matter how I changed it up, he got the right lid on the right container every time.

Nathan now can tell you all the letters in his name in order as long as he's looking at it. He recognizes his name in print as well. He loves this puzzle too.

We also worked on our animal ABC's. I need to get a video of him singing the ABC's. It's so cute!

More puzzles. He likes it when I take out every other piece. Then he works on finding the right piece for the right hole based on the colors and animals.

This was a new spin on a tray we did last week. This time I made squares out of scrapbook paper and asked him to match the magnets to the right squares.

This is him in progress. First, he had to show me the house he built in the orange square. I was impressed. He identified the house, roof, garage, and sun in the sky. Do you see it?A finished project, which a "crashed house".

This week, we used the egg containers a bunch and worked on "one in each hole".

Here he was working on picking up just the little balls and leaving the beans in the big dish. This proved to test his patience quite a bit but was worth the work.More "one in each hole" and color identification.

We played with play-doh, colored, played in rice, water, and shaving cream, and I missed pictures of it all! Hopefully there will be more pics to come this week and hopefully I won't forget to post our tot school pics this time! Have a great week and check out what other moms are doing here!

This place is so much fun! This particular day we went with Izzy and Bethany and Madison and Shelby! Needless to say, we all left super sweaty and so thankful for fun, friends, and inflatables!
