Visit with Mama Ginny and a trip to the Beach

On Saturday, we took a very adventurous trip to the beach to visit with Matt (my brother in law) and Chad's grandmother. She hasn't met Nathan and hadn't seen Karmyn since she was itty bitty! (Karmyn is Matt's little girl who is 2). So, we piled in two cars, C, K, and N in one, and Matt, Jenn, and Karmyn in another and started on the 5 hour drive. Ambitious huh? Yeah, about 20 minutes in, Nathan is pooping and we have to stop to change him. About an hour later, Chad gets a call from Matt... it's actually Karmyn on the phone.

K: "Unka Cha"
C: "yes Karmyn"
K: "I havta ooo"
C: "what did you say"
K: "unka Cha"
K: "I havta pooo"

So funny. So we stop. About 2.5 hours later, we're all hungry. Taco Bell here we come. Karmyn helped feed Nathan, the kids were happy and we all piled back into the cars. I'm telling you, when we got there we were all amazed at how well the little ones had traveled! We spent some time visiting with Mama Ginny.

Karmyn enjoyed feeding Nathan Cheerios and Nathan enjoyed not having to pick them up for himself. We all enjoyed seeing Mama Ginny and gave her many hugs. Then, a patient little girl got excited...

Jenn: "Karmyn, do you want to go to the beach?"
K: "its long way way"
Matt: "Not anymore, it's a few minutes away"
K: "i gotta go beach"
Matt and Jenn: "lets go"
K: "da baby go?"
M: "yes, baby Nathan will go"
K: "yeah, Naken go to beach"
J: "do you love Nathan?"
K: "no I love da beach"

So here is the beach from the eyes of a 2.5 year old little girl who has only heard of such a thing...

(I played with some color settings for this calm effect... she was calm, until she saw the water!)

Amazing to watch her experience it all for the first time. She was in constant motion, splashing, splaying in the sand, running, jumping in the water, running to mom and dad, holding Chad's shorts, asking if "Naken" (which sounds like Naked) could play on the beach... ABSOLUTELY precious!

Nathan was quite content to watch from the comfort of daddy's arms. We were happy that we didn't have to clean all the sand off of him... plus there was a thunderstorm coming and it's much easier to get a toddler going than a wee one! :)

What a precious little girl! Thanks for sharing her excitement over the brand new world opened up to her. Have you considered photography as a profession...?
