Nathan and the baby

Nathan has started talking more and more about the baby growing in my belly. Tonight, as usual, he woke up an hour after going to bed, insisting that he had to go pee pee on the potty. He usually does, so I took him. While sitting there, this is the conversation we had.

N: mommy, i'm ready for that baby to come out of your belly.

M: you are?

N: yes. i'm gonna be a big brother. i'm gonna be gentle and share my toys.

M: and a wonderful big brother you'll be! the baby needs to stay inside mommys belly for a while longer so it can get big and strong.

N: the baby doesn't need to be be big and strong. nathan is big and strong. the baby needs to come out now.

M: do you think that baby will be a boy or a girl?

N: let me see your belly... (he ponders silently for a few seconds)...

N: (with a huge grin) mommy, it's gonna be a girl. can she come out now?
