More pics from the fun Lake day with Q, K, & C

On July 12, we spent the day with our friends Quinton, Kristin, and Colton. Kristin just gave me copies of the rest of that days pics. I have to share some of these with you. We spent the day in the lake, then brought the boys back to Kristin's for a bath and bed... of course we had to take a million pics along the way. Here are some of the cutest and funniest of the bunch (that didn't make it into the first post).

Water Water Everywhere

We had a great weekend - and hope you did too! We started out with a pool party with some of our good friends Mike and Robn. They have two adorable kiddos who are 3 years old and 14 months. They came over for a swim and some pizza! Although we enjoyed the mere 15 minutes we spent in the water, the fact that we planned a pool party for the coldest Friday evening of the summer made it not as enjoyable as it could have been, but none the less, it was great to hang out with our friends!







Once we dried off and warmed up, we enjoyed some slammin' pizza and watermelon and strawberries... complete with cinnasticks! What a good night!


On Saturday, we had a great family day. Took an early walk in a park, cleaned out the car, planned our landscape and fence at the new house, and went to a baby shower. Too funny to think that we were having baby showers this time last year. It seems like yesterday and forever ago all at the same time.

Then, on Sunday, we took a long awaited trip to the warmest lake around here with Wendy and Preston. I've known them for 10 years and Wendy and I were roomies in college. Seriously... we love those two to death! They are so fun to hang out with and they're always so laid back. We did a little celebrating of Preston's bday, and then headed out to the new house, and then to the lake. In typical fashion, Nathan fell asleep as soon as the boat started! Wendy was such a good bed for him!


Man, there's nothing like a long ski and then re-energizing with strawberries and grapes, while still in the water! We floated in the water for a while tossing strawberries and grapes at one another. I wish I had pictures! After a float and some lounging on a nearby beach, we tried to crank up the boat and it wouldn't start. Yeah, not a good day when your friend wants to knee board, you're many many miles from the car, and your boat won't start. What did we do? Wendy, Nathan, and I played in the water and sand while Preston and Chad tried to think through it. They finally decided it was a fuse and flagged someone down to tow us to the marina... he was eager to help, and then a little less eager when we told him where we needed to be towed... 45 minutes the other direction. The nice stranger still agreed to take us there. Oh well, as Preston put it (after ordering queso at a great Mexican restaurant), it's a great excuse for us to go out again! I wish I had more pics, but we were just having too much fun!

Then, this morning, I found this in the hallway...

what is it? a shower puff thingie... perhaps you call it a loofah? Now, the bigger question is, "Why is it in the hall, not in the bathroom where I left it this morning?"
Yep, you guessed it... someone needed some attention...

House Update #11 driveway, paint, and cabinets

As promised, here's a pic of the house in the daylight. The driveway is finished and things are really coming together. There was also paint inside which was a little sad because the cabinets were covered in plastic. Oh well. Here's the kitchen anyway!

Playdate with Colton

On Thursday, Nathan and I headed out to Kristin's house to spend some time with her and Colton. Nathan was quite the "crank pot" (as I fondly nicknamed him), as his teeth/gums are really hurting.

He spent the majority of the day with his paci or his fingers in his mouth and was quite vocal about his discomfort. Colton was thrilled to see Nathan, though and greeted him with a few kisses! Too cute!



Nathan's reaction to the second kiss attempt is funny - do you hear him kind of growl? Don't worry, Colton's mommy and daddy usually dress him to the nines, but Colton was a little cold and so we grabbed the closest onesie and threw it on him! I kinda like the blue and white stripes with the green and orange and brown plaid. Don't you? More hugging pics below.



Nathan had his first bites of cheese while we were there... I took my eyes off of him for about 5 seconds and he had crawled over to my sandwich (which Kristin thoughtfully made) and had the bun and the tomato and was smashing them into the floor. He also had cheese between his fingers, so I let him taste it. He loved it and enjoyed a few more bites. Within the same 10 minute span, I took my eyes off him again and he went at least 10 feet across the floor and had pulled up onto his knees at their hearth. Oh my goodness, this kid is fast on hardwood floors!

While us mommies finished our sandwiches, the boys played together.

hmmm, Nathan has spotted Colton's full head of hair... or is he trying to hug him?

We walked down the street to Kristin's neighbor's house. She has a pool and every Thursday, she invites all the kids from the neighborhood to swim. So thoughtful! She even heated the pool because she knew that Colton was coming and he likes the water warm. We spent several hours in her pool and the boys loved it. Colton liked being in the shade, and Nathan loved watching the bigger kids swim. Both boys enjoyed "jumping off" the side into the water. Nathan was doing some good underwater swimming, although he was a bit distracted by the older kids and forgot to hold his breath a few times! :) I also started working with him on some new things. I sat him on the step and let him explore the water, and learn what happens when he leans too far forward. Don't worry, I was there to catch him, but at some point, he has to learn that he doesn't always hear "Nathan, ready, go" before he goes under. :)

Once the boys were exhausted, we walked home and put them down for naps. After their naps, we let them play again. This time, Nathan wanted to hug Colton, but he's not exactly coordinated enough to be gentle.



We tried to teach him to be gentle, and he was receptive to the teaching, however it didn't stick. 2 minutes after the hug, he pulled Colton's rat tail!

Colton was a good sport and offered Nathan another kiss and then they played together again. :) They are funny to watch because they like each other but they don't know how to play together very well. We'll have to get them rolling a ball or stacking blocks next time. Colton spent a few minutes watching Nathan get around, and before we knew it, Colton had rocked forward from sitting to his hands and knees and he pushed himself backwards 4 or 5 "steps". I couldn't believe it. He's so little, but the kid learns fast.

"all you have to do is lean a little more forward an you'll be on your hands and knees!"


Watching them makes me wonder if they really are trying to show each other affection or if they are just mimicing the things their mommy and daddy do to them... just something to ponder...
