Snow Day

March sure came i with a powerful punch around here!  We went to bed watching a good old NC blizzard...

and woke up to 6 inches of snow covering everything.  It was absolutely stunning!

Nathan woke up at 6:46am, which is unusual, but since Mommy is a snow loving little kid, we awoke the troops to see the beautiful snow.  Chad ran out to take some pictures of the pristine snow.  

I loved all the color in the skies.

Our first glimpses of the snow... I grabbed Nathan out of bed and without changing his diaper or confiscating his paci and blankie, we rushed downstairs to see the snow!  He loved the way it looked.

We got Nathan dressed to go out, and we should have known from the door that this was not going to be as fun for him as last time...

Although I was excited about the snow, my kiddo, still recovering from the end of the stomach bug, barely has the energy to walk around the house, much less frolic in a Michelin Man suit.  He was hesitant and didn't want Daddy to put him down at first.  

Then, he saw the snowman.  He loved our light up ice block snow man from Christmas, remember him?

He had the same fondness for Sebastian and Antonio's snowman.

I think he was so excited to see another white friend with a carrot nose!  I'd like to take credit for this great snowman, but our neighbors made it.

After hanging out with the snowman, we thought it was time for a ride on the sled.  Sebastian graciously volunteered to hold Nathan for his first sledding adventure.

After oh, about 1.5 seconds, Nathan started bawling and Sebastian didn't know what to do other than feel sorry for him.  

He and Nathan are good buddies and this kiddo has so much empathy toward others.  He kept asking if Nathan was okay.  So we headed to their backyard where Sebastian said there was really comfie snow.  Well, you can see how Nathan felt about the "comfie snow".

So, we compromised and looked at the snow piled up on the branches.

That was about all our little man could take of the snow.  Perhaps it'll still be there tomorrow and he can play then.

There was no stopping the puppies from their adventures in the snow!  Bailey ABSOLUTELY loves snow and really should be a mountain rescue dog in Colorado.  She stayed outside all day sprawled out in the snow or chasing the kids, or playing with Sadie, or eating snowballs that kids were throwing at her.  In fact, she played with the neighborhood kiddos for over and hour and refused to come back home when I called her.  It is VERY unusual for her not to come when called, so she must have been having a grand time! She also enjoyed frolicking with Sadie, who was very cold and opted for playing on Bailey more often than with Bailey.

This evening however, Bailey's acting more like an old woman, laying in front of the fire struggling to get her tired and sore legs up under her to stroll into the other room to get some water.  Poor thing!  Don't worry, she'll be at it again tomorrow!
