Finally we're out playing in the snow!!!

The Friday Nathan was admitted to the ER, a massive snowstorm dumped 8.5 inches of powdery white stuff on our southeastern town. We've not really been able to play in it because Nathan hasn't been feeling up to it. Today, he was ready. I was more than ready, even though the majority of the snow has melted...

Before we get to the cute toddler playing in the snow, check out my beautiful pup in the snow. This first pic was taken in Gatlinburg, TN in 2006 when a foot of snow dumped on us while on vacation out of nowhere. This was when we first learned Bailey was really a snow dog.

She's still a snow dog 4 years later... don't you agree?

Okay, on to the cute tot... oh and the cute snow pup again. :)
I can't resist... see how much she loves rolling in the snow!

Okay, back to the cute tot for a bit... making snowballs!
and throwing them!
more snowballs...

this one is for Bailey.
Snow angels!
Mom, can you put down that camera and play with me? Actually he said, "mommy i don't wanna smile for the camera, i want to play in the snow instead." Hint taken.
So I shoveled him a pile of snow to slide into like his buddy Izzy got to do...

You've gotta love NC's weather... one day it dumps 8.5 inches of snow, the next it's 7 degrees, the next it's 40 degrees and raining, and o the trend continues... but at least we're playing in snow and mud puddles all at the same time!
These might be two of my new favorite pictures... Nathan jumps and splats...

"mommy where did my boots go?" He was thankful to play in the 3 inch deep snow, and we didn't even mention that his knees would have been gone had he played in the snow on Saturday. :)
Enjoying a rest on the snow, sun shining down on his sweet face.
Attempting to slide on his belly... so sweet!
Yep, the snow pup is still playing!
Now, here comes the action! Our neighbors have a huge hill in their backyard that's just shaded enough to have a hard slick surface! The kids did a great job making a slick slide... I don't even know if they realize it! Nathan sure found it loads of fun!!!
Best thing about sliding down a 20 foot sheet of ice? The mud puddle at the bottom!
More sledding/sliding...

He loved landing in the puddle on his belly.
He never once complained of cold. About this point he says, "mommy, put your camera down and slide down the hill too!" And of course, being the big kid I am, I put my camera inside and we slid several more times... until his cheek and the sharp ice came in contact with one another... for several seconds... and left a bit of skin in the ice...this next pic might make your stomach turn

Poor kiddo. Same cheek as previous injuries. You can still see the leftover scars. All boy, this little Nathan! After he when skidding down the hill on his face he wanted to go back into our yard and play for a while, eat a few popsicles, and then go inside and warm up while watching Diego. Tough kiddo. Tough cheek! Awesome fun in the snow! :)

Update: after a few applications of neosporin, Nathan's cheek is looking a bit better!

So good to see sweet Nathan up and smiling and getting down to being a little boy...even enough to get that cheek again. He can't lose that "tough boy" image with all this laying in the bed he's had to do, huh? *hugs*
