This weekend, Nathan started getting really mad when we would go to burp him - he'd scream. He's not really fussy and doesn't scream much at all, so it was concerning - turns out he's just hungry and doesn't want to stop eating! Too funny! He's now 23 inches long and 13 pounds 4 ounces! He's really filling out and looking like a little boy! His eyes continue to get more and more blue too.
Here's one of his preemie outfits that he wore for about a month after birth. If his legs were stretched out you could really see how much he's grown, but this gives you a good idea.
Some sweet morning smiles
Nathan found his tongue this week and can stick it out now. He does that a lot these days.
Such a big boy!
Still the snuggle bug though!
Bailey is also still a snuggle bug and really enjoys night time snuggles with Chad.
So here's where the tough part starts... February 26th, we left again... this time for Cancun. Sounds great, and don't get me wrong, it was beautiful and fun - but it wasn't fun leaving our little guy again. What we didn't realize is that it would be hard for him. These pictures show the resiliency of little Nathan, but they don't show the agonizing cries for mom and dad. I didn't think he'd really care at this age but boy was I wrong!!! We were gone through the wee morning hours of March 3rd - and won't be traveling away from Nathan for quite some time! Thankfully, he was left in the patient and caring hands of two of my great friends, Kendra and Wendy and their lovely spouses (Kaz and Preston, respectively). We all learned a lot this week! Here are some pics of the highlights of Nathan's time with his surrogate mommies...
