Bragging on Bailey

I have to take a moment to brag on Bailey, our puppy. Bailey is a BEAUTIFUL golden retriever. She will be 3 years old this May. For those of you who don't know, Bailey is a certified therapy dog. July of 2007 she officially completed her certification and now proudly wears her title. Only trouble was that in September of 2007 I was put on bed rest while pregnant... so Bailey's love has been put on hold... until today. A few weeks ago, a teacher in a kindergarten class contacted me and asked me if I would bring Bailey to her classroom every few weeks to work with the kids on reading - really they are reading to Bailey, but honing their reading skills nonetheless! Well, today was the big day. About 30 kids came, 2 by 2 to read to Bailey. They each read 2 stories. It was such a sweet time. Bailey laid there like a stuffed animal while the kids petted her ears, eyes, feet, belly, head, and everywhere. She was so calm (for those of you who know Bailey, I know it's hard to believe). She was perfect. The kids loved her, I loved her, and it was such a wonderful experience. The teacher was so excited and shared with me at the end that Bailey had a special impact on a few of the kids. One little boy, painfully shy and withdrawn who read two books to Bailey - this little guy rarely talks... Another little guy, so enthusiastic, a whirlwind of energy, settled down and focused long enough to read two books and listen to a peer read two as well... it was so amazing, so humbling, and reminded me that the Lord works in so many different ways... could this be a ministry opportunity for me? A way to love on my community and be a light to the little ones? I'm not sure, but for now, I'm keeping my eyes on Christ and my hands on my sweet puppy! :)

The pics are so great. I am so glad that you are sharing these with everyone. I am sorry I have been so bad at keeping in touch. But, I would love for you and Bailey to come by and do something similar with my students. I can already see how great it would be for them.

Love you
