Nathan has had a rough couple days in terms of injury! At my folks house, he started having some tummy issues due to change in diet and water which led to a fierce diaper rash... so fierce, it's hard for him to sit down unless distracted. Poor baby!
I noticed Monday and Tuesday that he was a bit more clumsy than normal and he took many more falls than usual. Tuesday at the park, he fell three or four times, scraping the skin off of his knuckles once, and his knees another time, and the last time, he took a bad spill on the playground banging his head on a wooden step which caused him to bite his lip... top teeth into the outside of his lip, bottom teeth into the inside of his lip. OUCH!!! He cried for about 90 seconds, blood running out of his mouth, and then ran off to play. What a trooper!
Then on Wednesday morning, he fell several more times at home while barefoot outside. He scratched up his shins and busted the end of his big toe and got a huge boo boo there! While this is not normal for him, he is a toddler and I just figured I was being welcomed into the black and blue toddler club.
Wednesday afternoon, a mixed blessing occurred. One of Nathan's buddies (who will remain nameless because we LOVE our buddies and their families and don't want them to feel any worse about this) bit Nathan's ear... and bit it hard. (Cutting eye teeth is tough and apparently Nathan's ear looked like a great place to teethe). He looked a bit like Evander Holyfield afterwards. It bled a tiny bit and swelled a ton, but he seemed fine after the shock wore off. :)
Something in me said, call the doc just to see if it's okay that it was swelling. They told me that if a kiddo is bitten by a person and the skin is broken, they must come in for a visit. I didn't know this and so now I'm passing this on to you. So, I took him in to the office and told them of his week of woes. He is scratched or bruised or cut on every part of his little body it seems... and thanks to our teething friend, we had to come to the doctor, and we now know that Nathan's right ear is full of fluid! No wonder he's had balancing trouble!!! No wonder he's been falling so much! No wonder he hasn't been enjoying laying down. No wonder he hasn't been sleeping well... Thank you teething buddy for helping me get Nathan to the doc to get him on antibiotics before we leave for Disney World!!! (Hopefully next time, you can just tell me to take him). :) We love you Mike Tyson and we certainly forgive you - and are thankful we found out about the ear infection!
Nathan now enjoys showing everyone his "boo boos" and seems no worse for wear! We're glad we've caught the culprit of the poor balance though! That was tough on his little body!

Poor little guy!! What a week! Best thing we've found for diaper rash- Primadophilus for Kids probiotic (especially if he's on antibiotics now). It comes in a little tub from Only Earth in HP. Keep it in your fridge and put it in your kids drink for diaper rash, illness, antibiotics, immune boost, etc. Works great. If you end up with yeast Lamisil and Lotrimin work great. Apply first, top with vaseline, and powder. i hope you guys have a great time at Disney. That should definitely cheer him up!
Poor little dude! That stinks!
