Fathers Day

This past weekend was such a joy. Chad was in town after several weekends of leaving for work trips and the weather was amazingly beautiful. When we want to enjoy quality family time, we head to the lake. Saturday, that's just what we did. We stopped at McDonalds on the way out and enjoyed pancakes, eggs, biscuits, and McMuffins. Once full, we headed up to the lake, all four of us. We can't leave the pup at home! She LOVES the lake! When we were sans kiddo, we loved to pull the boat up on some beach and lounge in the water and enjoy one another while Bailey chased fish in the shallow water. I wasn't sure that would happen again this summer, with a little one, but by golly, it did and we loved it!

With little man in his float and understanding the boundaries (this side of the rope, stay on the sand or in the water - and out of the woods), Chad and I were able to lounge in the shallow water watching our two kiddos play. Nathan did quite a bit of this...

and some of this... He loves to get sticks for Bailey and Daddy. He also enjoys walking into the deep water until he can't touch anymore and turning around and saying "walk" as he walks back up to the shore.
Daddy (and mommy) did a lot of this....
and this...
Bailey has locked in on a school of fish...
but Chad tackled her and rolled her over.

He loves to wrestle with our 82 pound golden. I think she likes it too!
When it was time to get a shot of daddy and Nathan, I laughed at the faces Nathan made...

then finally, a good one!
More play time suits us all just fine.
Oh, and of course more wrestling.

Nathan swam out to the deep area where Daddy and Bailey were wrestling to give Bailey a zerbert...
and then a kiss.
Those three are an absolute joy to be with and I'm so thankful for each of them. Particularly for Chad because, well, he's Chad and my best friend, and my hubby, and, well, just plain wonderful.

What are you lookin at? I know I haven't caught any fish, but I don't give up easily.

Bailey dive bombs the fish and her whole head goes in the water. It's amazing to me that she can hold her breath!

Monkey see, Monkey do!
A look back... This is fathers day last year... at the lake of course.

My daddy, Chad and Nathan last Father Day. I was sad not to hang out with my daddy this weekend, but it was best to keep our lingering sick germs to ourselves, although I think they're all gone now!

There's always a snooze to be had when your on the boat!
Unless of course you're driving... but Nathan still found time to snooze in his daddy's arms. So sweet as this RARELY happens on land!

Chad, we're so lucky to have you! You are an amazing daddy for sure. If Nathan could talk, I think he'd tell you that he loves the way you chase him and wrestle with him, the way you gnaw on his back to make him laugh uncontrollably, the way you talk to him at meal time, the way you calm him when he's upset, the way you makes silly silly faces, the way you play, the way you don't ever mind changing diapers and you make it so much fun, the way you love, and the way you smile. We love you!
